Equipmment

Please remember to book equipment well in advance.  We cannot guarantee availabilty of cameras at short notice.

Also, once you are in posession of equipment you are responsible for it.  Please take time to check that all equipment is returned in full working order.  Cameras need to be charged and returned with chargers.  Tripods should be complete and not have pieces removed or missing.  If any lights have blown bulbs, please inform us so that they can be replaced.

Deadline Approaching

This is the final week of lessons given over to your openong sequences.  The deadline is this friday 19th March at 1.30pm.  Any work submitted after that time and date will be subject to a deduction in marks.  This will be at a rate of 1 mark per day, including weekends and holidays.

So get a move on!

Uploading podcast's to your blog

Here's a really useful site which shows you easily how to upload a Podcast. If you have an aiff file you may want to convert it to an MP3 before uploading. To do this go into Itunes (version 8) click Itunes-preferences-General-Import Settings and then change to MP3 Encoder and click ok. Right click on the desired aiff file in your library and select "create MP3 Version".

From there I suggest using the following site on how to upload to www.archive.org and then from that to blogger!

Questions for the Evaluation

As part of the evaluation process you have to respond to a series of questions.  The evaluation can be in the form of a blog, presentation, video , but not a written response.  Be sure to consider these questions in your research and planning and allow these questions to shape your reserach and planning tasks.  In the evaluation the following questions must be answered:

 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

 Who would be the audience for your media product?

 How did you attract/address your audience?

 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

 Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The production element and presentation of research and planning may be individual or group work.  Where you have worked in a group, the evidence for assessment may be presented collectively but we will still assess you on an individual basis for your contribution to aspects of the work, from planning, research and production to evaluation.

Your Foundation Portfolio Blogs

Be sure to use the correct name and URL for your group blog.  Remember this is where you provide evidence of your research and planning, so each group member needs to make regular postings and you must be sure to keep your production log up to date.  So get cracking and start blogging!

Run Lola Run Opening Sequence

An interesting use of multi-media makes for an engaging opening.

Layer Cake Opening Sequence

This opening sequence makes clever use of moving camera to create interesting "invisible"edits. Be warned! there is swearing/sex/drugs references in this video!

Kidulthood Opening Sequence

How is the camera used to create a sense of urgency and drama?
